Frames is an autobiographical musical journey from Jon Andrew Franklin, told through stories, original music and a loop pedal, tracing his life through Hawaii, Los Angeles and the Fringe, and the struggles of trying to make a living from music.

There is no particular grand theme here, nor does there need to be. The stories are engrossing and interesting, with some light comedy and some really nice music. The loop pedal gives the autobiography a musical structure without making the technology itself the point.

What really carries the show, though, is Franklin. In the very small, very intimate venue, the violinist is absolutely charismatic, and that presence turns what could have been a fairly ordinary autobiographical music show into something much more engaging.

Really, really enjoyable. The music is good; the performer is the shine.

Runs daily at 9:40pm.
